Daughter and Son-in-Law up at NAS Whidbey Island (Puget Sound) got some phenomenal pictures of the Northern Lights from a darkened area of the base up there. They got back to their house (off base in town) and they were so intense they got some great shots from the house in spite of the street lights and town light contamination.

South Central Oregon here at Bravo Compound.....

The elk came back to visit yesterday afternoon and hung around all night long. Pretty shaggy and ragged looking. They are in the process of trading in the winter coat for the summer coat.

Taken from the house.............

Young bull. Snot came over and started using the cell trail cam and the Solar Battery/Charger panel as a play toy. Nosing it, head butting, pushing it with his nose and pulling, chewing on the strap and the locking cable. Camera is now pointing at the ground and have to go down this morning and reset it. Still working, just pointed in the wrong direction.

The young bull. Probably a long yearling, maybe a two year old. Has some good-sized ***** but won't be more than a spike this year.

0530 this morning, they were still hanging around and munching. The others were across the river in the brush. These 3 eventually crossed the river and joined them.

This spot is mine!

What part of "mine" is it that you don't understand!

Sword fight with the feet. They got pretty nasty before they quit.

Cameras alerted me to movement a few mins ago so I decided to have a look and discovered something very unusual. A full grown raccoon limping thru my backyard so I watched it and saw it dart into an old dilapidated shed. Went out to have a closer look and was greeted by this little fella. Highly unusual since they are nocturnal creatures. Figured it was just looking for a spot to mend so I let it be.

Say Tim, my buddy would be upset over that. He has raised Rattle Snakes for a great many years. Goes out to Eastern Oregon every summer and turns two loose but replaces them with two young ones he captures. He does have a very nice Terrarium for them.
Personally, they kind of fall into my column for Polaski, Shovel, hoe or shooting. I do have "snake" loads for the pistol when out in snake country.

i have no issue with rattlesnakes as long as they stay away from me.
i had one living under the garage for around 4 years in an old ground hog burrow that kept rodents away. whenever i came near that area he would give a quick rattle, and than scoot back under the garage.

Yikes! That's a hard pass for me. We don't have many but we have a few and if you do come across one they're not ones to stay put if you try to walk away. Have known people who were damn near killed by them too. Luckily with the amount of Bull snakes we have they're rarely seen but the farther east you go around here the more Rattlers there are.

Don't know a Dang thing about Snakes here in NW Ohio, only Folk Tales of days gone by, Southern Ohio perhaps. Don't know, Don't want to know and wouldn't know how to deal with them, just moving a piece of wood or walking shouldn't be a challenge........
