Gloryb, I pull a Jayco 36' tt, at about 9800lbs. I have the 3.73, but really regret not ordering it with the 4.30. Everything I've read here is there is very very little decrease in mpg's with the 4.30, but your touring is much stronger. My truck shifts constantly on hills or if there is a moderate head wind. You'll never touch 6th gear if you plan on going over 65 mph towing. That's my one and only regret with my truck. Otherwise I love everything about it.

Towing our new home on wheels. Just purchased 2014 Sabre 5th wheel. Involved a rode trip which also involved a week of camping. Finally started using my 2012 F350 6.2 4.30 axle with prep package. Reese hithc dropped right in and away we went. So far, over 1800 miles of towing and 0 issues. Truck performed like it was supposed to. Avg 9/10 towing. Can't wait to use it again.

Thank you very much, it's a basic fleet/work truck that I bought as a left over. A body shop in New Egypt, NJ did the black paint along the bottom and painted and installed the fender flares for $1150.00. That along with $35.00 of the "SUPER DUTY" lettering (red in front and black on tailgate) is what makes such a big difference. I have attached a before picture - once again thank you for your kind words. This has become my favorite vehicle to drive.

I would worry about that break away cable getting caught under the hitch while turing to the right and pull the pin out...thus activating your trailer brakes.

X2 Murphy's law- those things happen to me! Folks accuse me of being **** about stuff like that, I am just a man with too much experience in how things go wrong.

Hey Gents,
Appreciate the reply on the breakaway cable. Didn't even think about it. I had also just read on the forest river forum of a couple pulling a 5th wheel and hit ice,, 5th wheel broke away from his truck lucky and totaled it. He mentioned next time of Hooking the breakaway cable to the inside corner of the truck bed on one of the bed hooks?. Away from the hitch..
Again, appreciate the heads up, being New to the 5th wheel world I do take advice and have been reading tons.
Thanks again and happy safe towing.

Thanks to all who have responded to my query on this post. We decided to try the F150 Ecoboost. Actually get about 10mpg towing & are loving the 20mpg when not towing. Finally a truck we can actually afford to drive when we're not traveling.

Wow
Cool setup.

I learn something new every day.
I did not know you could get 7 lug wheels on the 2011 and newer F150.
