Bug Deflector

I am looking for a bug deflector for my 2011 SD. It looks like WeatherTech has one. Does anybody have this on their truck? And do you like it? I want one that mounts using existing holes on the underside of the hood, not 3M double stick tape.

Thanks!

Have you ever seen an Aeroskin? Lays flat against the hood. No way to get broken and comes in smoke, chrome or can be painted. There's a pic of a new Ford on Jeg's. However it is held on by 3M tape. But nice!

I ran deflectors on a couple of vehicles at the turn of the century (that sounded funny, didn't it?). I ran into a few problems with them. First, back then they were not drill less. I think I had a dissimilar metal thing going on. Despite putting silcone on the threads and in the hole and on top of the screw head they rusted. I would like to see how well the taped version will work. There is a steady force on the deflector and I wonder if it will hold up.

The bigger problems were that although they were contoured and rigid, they flexed enough to hit the hood and I found paint wear on both vehicles. The other problem was the one that really irked me. They changed the airflow and caused havoc with the windshield fluid dispensing! I think I only got a quarter of what I sprayed actually on the windshield.

Since 2003 I have been putting 3M Invisible Bra on my vehicles. Does a great job on small stones and the normal grit (sand, salt, etc.). One thing you might want to take into consideration is whether a bug deflector is needed or not. The hood sits pretty low behind that massive grill. On my Invisible Bra application, they did not put it on the front edge of the hood.
