5th Wheel Tail Gates

I'm looking for a 5th wheel tailgate (drop down opening, for hookup) for my 2011 DRW PU (the trailer will not permit a tail gate down hookup, even with a straght shot (4" short)

(1) What have you Guys/Gals found?
(2) Are there any that will interface (somehow) my factory backup camera screen?

Or are there other cameras I can incorporate into these gates? I am willing to lockpick if needed.

Thx

Not sure about the tailgates, how about a longer pin box so you can use the stock TG?

Geez - I hope this isn't an issue when I go to hook up in the spring time.

Guess I better try first chance I get to see if changes are in store.

What do have currently? Just factory TG, with 5th wheel?
What did you do before?

Factory tailgate. Haven't tried hooking up yet, just got the hitch last Thursday.
Prior too it was a GMC Sierra. Plenty of room with that truck and hitch.

Gee whiz - if I wanted an ugly truck I would have bought a Dodge

Pain in the behind but drop tail gate, back under just far enough to clear the pin, close tail gate, finish backing to hook up.

That is how I would have to hook up if I didn't have an extended pin box.

I don't know about cameras, but the 5th wheel tailgates from 2005 and up will fit.

I had mine purchased for my 05, and then bought the 20011, and the tailgate fit just right. I don't know how many times prior to purchasing the cut-out tailgate, I pulled away from my trailer....wife starts to yell "sssssstttttttoooooooooPPPP".....LOL

I have a long bed crew cab and I have about 3" clearance if I'm perfectly straight. Thought about a tailgate but I don't want to give up the step.

the clearance is primarily based on the pinbox of the trailer and the shape of the undercarriage, etc. We do have larger tailgates than some older trucks, so a longer pinbox is necessary to clear the tailgate in the down position. I know that has been explained already, just wanted to reinforce it before everyone started posting their clearances. Each trailer is going to be different

I too have been looking at 5th wheel tailgates, and found a few that I like. I think I might just look for an extended pinbox though... maybe one with air ride. It would also allow for tighter turns since I don't use a slider.

I had a chance to try my trailer a week or so ago.
Same amount of clearance with the gate down that I had with my GMC, about 8"

My pin box is based on the Lippert 1621

I decided on Custom Flow and got the insert as well. Here's a link to a pic:
