How do I tell which transmission I have!!!

I have a 1998 f-250 had a 4.6 in it and auto trans.I cant find a tag on the trans.How do I tell which trans I have.I believe its the 4R70W but not sure.Any help please.Thanks.

Take a look at the sticker in your door jamb, It will be posted there. If you have the 4.6L, I do believe that you have the 4R70W.

yeah - check the label.

At the bottom, towards the end the right, it will have a letter under the "TR"; think a "U" is for 4R70W.

Yes I have the U code So I am getting ready to put a 5.4 in it and will it hold up?

yea the 4r70w was used in the 5.4L, just the converter is different

you can count the pan bolts too (on the tranny)
14= 4r70w
20=4r100w

Can I use the 4.6 converter.It is just a different stall.Can I reprogram the computer for the 5.4 for the converter to work?Thanks
