How to improve fuel mileage

How To Remove TAB and TAD Solenoids
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove the plugs from the TAB and TAD solenoids.
3. Using a 75 ohm, 3watt resistor, cross the two terminals in the TAD plug, and do the same for the TAB.
4. Plug any vacuum lines that were running to the TAD and TAB and remove them both.

Stock Fan Removal
For those of you looking to eliminate clutter in your engine bay, improve engine cooling, or maybe increase power, you may consider removing your stock, water pump mounted fan.

WARNING: Working on the fan is very dangerous and could cause serious death or injury.

What you will need:
4, 5/16"x3/4" Fine Thread Bolts
4, 5/16" Lock Washers

1. Disconnect your negative battery cable. (For real, this ish could severe your hand.)
2. Remove fan shroud.
3. Using a 15mm wrench, place it on the tensioner pulley and slowly pull upwards with your left hand, and remove the belt with your right hand.
4. Using a 7/16" wrench, remove the 4 bolts that attach the fan to the water pump pulley. Remove fan, but not the pulley.
5. Insert a 5/16"x3/4" bolt with a lock washer into each whole, and tighten.

Your fan is now removed, it is 100% up to you to decide whether your will run an electric fan, or fan-less.

How To Check Your Engine Codes

Is your check engine light on solid? Does it flash from time to time?
The easiest way to diagnose your trucks problems is to start by running a diagnostics test either by using an appropriate scanner or by running a self test.

How to perform a self test without a scanner, instructions are here.

Code Descriptions:

Thats a good idea.

Tell everyone that has an older high mileage truck that they just picked up and is running poorly to do a complete tune up with motorcraft or autolite plugs and replace the air and fuel filter.

Something about the I6/460 intake tube would be good.

How about something about headlight upgrades with relays and good clear bulbs.

Have something about snake oil performance parts.

All great ideas and everyone's ideas have been added!
I'll ad the snake oil products as performance options based on personal opinions.

I agree with adding those maintenance tips. Good Idea.

I remember that thread about the dyno results. I was curious to see that too.

A very important one you left out is how to improve the gas mileage on a 460.
Especially helpful would be tips on how to go from 10 mpg to 20 mpg on a budget of less than $100.00.
