Engine Fail Safe Mode

Twice in two weeks while driving a beep occurs and "Engine Fail Safe" mode on dash appears then coast to side of road (no power). Turn off engine, wait a minute and restart and resume driving. Today the engine light is on, guess I need to call Ford and bring it in.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

Oh I forgot, its a 05' SC Lariat w/5.4 V8.....

Could be anything. Report back with the engine code that caused the engine light and we'll be able to provide more help.

Most autoparts stores (Napa, Advance, etc) will pull the CEL codes for you free of charge. Should help you avoid the dealership.

Mine has done it before it always codes for something with the intake. It has done it like a few times a year but always when its cold out
