Angry

it is actually the heater/ac motor actuator that is malfunctioning in behind the dash. Had mine replaced on warranty. 8 hour job to remove the dash. My son had his done after warranty; the motor is about $40 and labor was $900. I assume there will be a recall on these. Some of the Ford Escapes are giving problems too.
On the trucks you'lll hear a light clicking sound when you have you duall control set at a certain temp when calling for a/c. and one side will work well; say the drivers side and the passengers side will either be ultra hot or cold!!!

Thanks for the update 8e3ko. I'll check my ESP and hopefully it will be covered.

yep its the blower door motor on the HVAC. I think there are 3 different units. One in the center of the dash is a 8 hour job and a pain in the butt. Going to have mine replaced this week.

what a coincidence...was just getting ready to post on this. just had my "blender" changed a couple weeks ago after the popping noise pissed me off enough to take it in. took about 5 hours because they had to take a fair amount of the dash apart to get to it. cost nealy $400 and just noticed the sound coming back a few days ago. i ain't happy.

is it the same one or a different one? I'm thinking of asking them to change out all 3 to be safe.

I am getting ready to take my truck back in for the 4th time in the last 5 weeks for this issue. They say the actuator was changed for the 2nd time last service. The clicking is less noticeable but still present. There is a rolling hiss that is more noticeable at times. I think I could almost handle the noises...maybe...but the fact that the left vent is 15 degrees (+/-) cooler than the right is not acceptable. Something is wrong and it is hard to believe they can't get it fixed. One more try with these guys and then time to move on...

I have the same issue and hope to get it fixed this week. The one causing me headaches is the one just below and to right side of the center cup holders. I also have big difference in temps coming out of passanger side vs. driver side. Sure hope they get it fixed.

Mine goes in Monday. Be interesting to see if they come up with the same diagnosis. I also mentioned the throttle delay and white smoke when humid/damp and the SW acted like I was the first and only person to ever raise these concerns. But then also said they were so busy that all diesels had at least a 2 week wait to get an appointment. That many diesel repairs but no one has complained about the dash noise, throttle delay, or white smoke??? I will post results next week.

yeah its one of the 3 i believe blower door actuators. I just had 1 replaced that has been driving me crazy for a year. its sure nice now not to hear anything but that smooth running diesel engine.

On my way to the dealer yesterday and the noise stopped. What?!?! So of course my report says "unable to duplicate concern". Im sure it will return again though.

I've got a job 1 2008 Lariat and I think I hear the noise you guys are talking about. Can you specify if it happens when your thermostat is on the same temperature setting for the driver and passenger side or if it only happens when 2 different temperatures are set? I always keep the truck on 1 temperature setting so I wasn't sure where you guys were having the issues with 1 side blowing out hotter than the other. I have never felt the passenger side vents as they are a mile away from the driver's seat! Of course my 3 year warranty ends at the end of this month so I need to decide quickly if I have the same issue.

Thanks!

I havent heard noise in a week or two but I think the noise was pretty consistent regardless of temp differences.
