Gary is Chris driving straight through to your house or is he going to take your short cut again?

But you know, maybe we could all broadcast what we are looking for and anyone that has those items can bring them and either swap parts or exchange money. Im heading up to the store to get the bearings and seals for the axle in a minute.
I think the swap meet is a good idea. Let's talk it up on Saturday.

I think he's wise to the shortcut. Guess he's driving straight through, but he hasn't said when he's getting in.

Did you happen to find some pallets? Ones big enough to hold a bed?

So how is Chris getting the bed back? Is he shipping it?

He wants to ship it as its the least expensive method. Hopefully Bruno can pick up pallets tomorrow and we can put the bed between two of them on Saturday. I'll get it to the carrier some time next week.

I havent looked yet for the pallets. However, I know of a few good spots besides the old Kaiser aluminum foundry as well as my suppliers to check. I will come up with something. Should I bring my frame nailer and worm saw in case we need to build, change or modify the pallets?

Sounds good. Hope you won't melt in whatever it is that's coming out of the sky. Looks like we may still have it around tomorrow.

Robbed the alt off the 80 F150, and put it on the 74. Getting ~14V at idle with the headlights on. Been a while since that happened...... Was fairly sure it was the alt, now I know 100%......
The 74 is planned to see a little "road trip" action tomorrow, and it will be nice to know I don't have to worry about getting back home before daylight fades. The road trip is to Gary's for the Oklahoma FTE meet, about 80 miles round trip.

I guess an alt can be added to the list of things needed to get the 80 back on the road, along with a flexplate and starter drive. Might just tear apart the alt and see if it's a simple fix, though finding repair parts for an alt isn't as easy as it once was........

Yeah, the problem is that the parts cost about as much as an alt.
Especially if you get bearings.

I replaced the alt on my 76 when it still had the 390 in it..About 35 Dollars.

I used it about 6 mo. before I got the 460.
The 460 had a new one on it when I got it..

I still have the 390 with a burned valve.
Keeping it around in case something turns up..

Anyway, be careful and have a great time at the GTG...Tell everyone Hell-o....Trav...

I bought my 130A 3G outright off Ebay for <$75.
New rebuild in a Motorcraft box, shipping included.
A fuseholder and 3' of 2Ga cable aren't much.
If you have a 1G you will have to buy the regulator pigtail for ~$5

Successfully moved to SC.

Had to re-adjust my timing.

It has been in duty ever since. Cutting up lumber and hauling it around the 4 acres. 4-wheel low and 1st gear the 300 idles over stumps and ruts at 500 rpm with a bed full of wood logs over the top like it was on dry pavement. Not even a hiccup.

It also snatched a 10x12 building off of the block it was sitting on, and then drug it 100 feet in 2nd gear 4-lo without even struggling with the bed loaded down and the truck squatting, plus stuff in the shed!

I have a new moniker for my truck:

"The mighty-6, 300 cubic inches of Spartan power!"

That sounds epic if indeed it did happen. You know the saying... pics or it didn't happen.

Thats about what I spent for a rebuilt JY alternator with warranty, fuse block with 120A alt fuse, and enough wire for all of it.

Drove the 82 to work and back today, like usual. Filled the fuel tank on the way back and still getting what seems to be the norm 12mpg. Thinking it is time for a distributor with vacuum advance and maybe an Edelbrock carb/intake.

Cool. First post on page 500.
