1990 Ford Bronco Starting Issue
Hello!
I have a 1990 Ford Bronco, Full Size, 4x4, 302 V8...
I also have a problem....
It won't start.
I couldn't figure it out, so I brought it to a mechanic.
At first, the truck would not even start to turn over.
The mechanic got this electronic plug-in part that plugged into the side of the distributor.
Then the truck started to turn over, but it would not start. However, it would only turn over when he had the battery charger on it. He said the battery was not holding a charge.
So we went and got a new battery.
Plugged in the new battery, and now the truck turns over, but it still doesn't start.
I said it wasn't getting any spark. The mechanic had this thing and said it was.
So! Now I am sitting here trying to find out why it won't start.
Any ideas?
Also! Right before the starting problem, the running lights in the back stopped working. The turn signals, brake lights, and backup lights all work. But the lights that turn on at night don't. All of the front lights work, just the back running lights do not.
The day before the lights stopped working, we replaced a head gasket. I wasn't there, but nothing looked like it had been messed with...
SO!
I need help!

Has it ran since you replaced the head gasket? Also your mechanic said it is getting spark, how about fuel? If it hasn;t run since the head gasket (and even if it has) check the distributer. Make sure it is installed correctly and the timing is right.

HI, It sounds like a fusible link is blown , they should be on the solenoid switch. With rubbery tag indicating the wire gage. If one of these has blown you might not be getting 12 vote power to the on board computer. I would check there first. P.S. if you pull on one at a time, and one stretches like an elastic Bingo you fond the problem. Have a good Day and good luck. Cliff
