1997 F-250 Flexes Its 7.3 Powerstroke Dominance: Two Tone Tuesday Presented by Dupli-Color Premium Truck Bed Coating
Named ‘Papa Powerstroke,’ this ninth-gen Ford F-250 embodies the pride of a truck that is built, not bought.
When we came across this 1997 Ford F-250 on social media, we just knew this clean beast would be an outstanding truck for Two Tone Tuesday. Posted on Reddit, the owner described it as “Just an old farm truck.” Just an old farm truck? This may still be a beast of burden, but it is anything but ordinary.
The truck has its own Instagram account, under its nickname “Papa Powerstroke,” as well it should. Truly this 4×4 Crew Cab is a mighty fine looking Ford. We can see its evolution over the years through pictures, nicely illustrating the subtle changes that the owner made to build his truck into a powerhouse we love to call “Big Papa.”
Powered by the legendary 7.3 L Powerstroke diesel engine, this turbocharged Heavy Duty monster is a torquey rig with ample horsepower. The 1997 7.3 Powerstroke also delivered pretty remarkable displacement by any standards. A hefty (and heavy) truck.
We drool over this perfect example of an Old Body Style (OBS)–named for the Powerstroke Ford trucks from 1992-1997. This biggun’ 4×4 looks equally badass with the bed cap on or off. Grey and white is a simple palette that nails the two tone style that is clean and cool.
Yeah, he cleans up nice. Over the years, Papa Powerstroke has added a 4″ lift, and upgraded to heftier 35″ tires. Hey, he’s got a job to do–this is a working truck, after all.
It is rare to see an 1997 OBS Ford truck from a farm in Iowa with no rust, and such a clean body. Clearly, his owner has put in the work to keep this 22-year old Herculean ride going strong.
And with winter approaching much faster than we’d like, Papa fears no rain, and no snow. He’s an all-weather indomitable force of nature, himself. His owner even calls him the “Yeti.”
And no, it isn’t all glam shots, you can see this ninth-generation F-250 in action. Listen to it fire up and emit a truly guttural roar.

What should I do next? Was thinking of doing a projector retrofit and cab mount bushings. 🤔
Give Papa Powerstoke a follow, and check out this amazing two tone truck.
