Have You Given Up on Cars?
While I’m well aware this is a truck site, many of you have more than one vehicle in your household. For some, that’s a midsize family car. A sedan. Lately though, cars have fallen to the wayside to make way for more and more SUV and crossover purchases. Are you done with buying sedans, or do you still find the car useful?
In a way, you can now have a truck as your “everything” car. While you always could, I suppose, now more than ever you can build a truck to meet all the requirements you need out of a car. Luxury interiors are options, and with Ford you can spec fuel-efficient EcoBoost engines. When paired to transmissions like the new Ford 10-speed for the F-150, fuel economy numbers fall nearly into midsize sedan territory.
According to Automotive News, in August alone sales of the Fusion dropped 30% in year-over-year sales. While that’s not as bad as some other cars in the industry — like the Chrysler 200 — that’s not a good direction for the cars to be going.
Do you own a midsize sedan? Do you have plans of buying one in the future? Are you skipping the sedan and looking at a crossover? Or, will your truck do everything you need and that’s that? Let us know what you think in the comments below or over in our forums!
