1992 Ford F-150

From safety and reliability to easy maintenance, here’s why a used Ford truck should always be the answer to the question of what to buy a new driver.

If you have a new driver in the house or know someone that does you know that they will need their own set of wheels eventually. While many new drivers would love to jump right into a supercar, it is not the best idea even if you can afford it. Many folks will suggest a small, economical car and there is nothing wrong with that. However, we think we have an even better option and that is a used Ford truck.

While some may feel a truck is not the best option for a driver that is just starting out, if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. In fact, there are so many good reasons to select a Ford truck, we had a tough time limiting the list to just ten. So, here is a bonus reason. If you choose wisely, you will end up with a truck that has one of the most dependable and capable engines ever made.  Checkout our full list below and let us know your thoughts in the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forums.

Safety

2013 F-150

This should be a top consideration when looking at wheels for a newly licensed driver. If you are looking at a truck that is maybe just five or ten years old, it will still have many of the latest safety devices that come on the current crop of trucks. Beyond that, there is no disputing the laws of physics, and a larger vehicle is inherently safer. Many will suggest a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla as a first vehicle, but in the event of a collision, we would want our loved ones in the F-150 instead.
