I used a step bit. You will be drilling a 3/4" hole, so get a bit that goes to 7/8". Use WD-40 on the bit while drilling. I used a hand drill, and it went fast and smooth. No need for a drill press. When you get to 3/4", go just a tad into the 13/16" step to chamfer the hole. Flip hte bracket over, and chamfer the hole on the other side as well. This will make putting the grommet in a breeze.
