The electronic lock allows you to have the locking lever in a position half way between open and lock where you can still open the lid without having to put the code in. When you want to lock it just flip the lever all the way to lock. I paid $429 for the Extreme model with the electronic lock and they threw in a gun magnet. The shipping was free.
