fill the fuel filter with diesel fuel or diesel kleen before you start pumping, and it will make your life a lot easier.
once you try to start it, keep the idle around 1000-1500rpm for about 1 minute, or until the engine runs clean with no sputtering. this will ensure you get all the air out of the lines. if you rev it too high before it fills everything up, you take a chance of running the filters dry before the mechanical fuel pump can fill them and purge the system of air.
