Broke one too so here it is.
A. Rags and eye protection a must.
1. I pull the fuse that controls the fuel pump.
2. Start engine let it die so fuel pressure is gone.
3. Use the Ford tool to remove the single braided line.
4. Grab filter remove it from the bracket drain excess fuel into rag.
5. The next step sux. I found out the hard way. Use an awl that has a right angle that can reach the pointy end of the clips holding them in. If you can get to the pointy end of the clip they can be removed OR.
6 OR just use a screw driver to pull the clips out they will break
7. So you want to save money doing it yourself! I PAID 8.95 at the dealer for a new clip. Yes that tiny thing that has 14 cents of plastic.

I am not responsible if you break something, just telling you what I know.

Have fun
