Guess I have to correct my previous post on the door strikers!!! When I removed them from my 88 parts Bronco, the retainer/nut stayed in place. When I unbolted the pass.-side striker today on my 84 Bronco, the retainer fell down!!!
I had to loosen and pull back the rear inner panel, and retrieve the retainer from the bottom of the door! The good news is that there's a hole about striker-level just big enough to get a pair of pliers thru, and fasten the new striker while holding the retainer.
Yeah, that's exactly what prompted my original post. Happened to me in another life on a '73 Peterbilt. Large backing nut fell into an unaccessable inside pocket. Got the panel off to get another nut on the striker, but the lost nut rattled like a SOB from then on.
My nuts, so to speak, stayed where they were supposed to stay, and I fugure most Bronco would. Have you had body work on that door?
