Yours sounds like a powerstroke. The alternator will be on the opposite side than the pice. (The pic is a SD 7.3) If you fill oil in the VC it is a PSD. Direct injection is a powerstroke also.
There is a guy that does good turbo work on e-bay others will direct you to him.
To be honest it sounds like your o-rings between the pedestal and turbo are bad.
Check for play on the turbine wheel. That will tell you if you need a new turbo.
Not always is the turbo bad if it leaks.
