Passing emissions?
Hmmmm...
That was the one I went to last year. I guess I'll have to search for a new "lenient" inspection station.
I have a carb on my truck (as well as a healthy cam and headers) and I usually have to do some tuning to get it to pass the actual sniffer test, so I start by explaining to the inspector that I may need a tune-up to actually pass the emissions part. I request that they check everything out first (including the emissions) to verify that it will pass. They may charge a few bucks, but I know at that point if I will pass. If it only failed because of the emissions, I will lean out the carb and return. If they have an issue with the hardware (or lack of), I will find another inspection station.
So far this has worked but it is a pain in the ****. I built the engine in a state that has emission testing (FL), but they don't actually get under the hood looking for components. Live and learn I guess.
Let us know how you do.
