Just a follow up on what I found...I took the panel off below the steering column and looked around at what was there. I was looking for the two torx bolts locknload refered to. I found them and they were in fact really loose. I could turn them with my fingers. They hold an assembly tp the bottom of the shifter column that connects to the shifter cable and also apparantly to the starter interlock switch. I tightend these up and PRESTO! everything feels much better. I'll still do the bushings, when it gets above freezing outside....
