I used to have a 1986 F150 with a F.I. 302.
On that truck those tubes actually went into a small block that was bolted onto the back of the head. I unbolted those blocks and found that the holes in the head for the tubes were threaded from the factory. I found a bolt to fit and that sealed the hole with no problems.
It was a pain to work on because of the location.
