EVAP vent solenoid

Hello everyone, I have a 99 F250 v10 that I haven't owned for very long. My check engine light is on and I have pulled code p455-EVAP leak detected. While following the hose system looking for potential problems I found that the EVAP vent solenoid (located on the back of the EVAP canister) has what looks to be a very short piece of hose on it that doesn't go anywhere. I am wondering if this is supposed to be connected to something, or if there is supposed to be some sort of small filter on it. I haven't been able to find any useful diagrams or pictures of this.
