I understand what you are trying to do - that really makes a difference on older engines where you could spin the oil pump manually via the distributor access. Especially important after an engine rebuild not really needed on just oil changes. On newer engines the oil flows so quickly that you are really ok by just starting it and letting it run for a minute to check for leaks.
