Thanks OGB. I think, since I have the '67 carb in hand, I will try just plugging of the holes in that odd port and see how the van runs.

BTW: If my computer had not caught on fire I would use that to post here and include pictures. Since it did catch on fire, I'm using my phone and cannot include pictures.
