Went out this morning to move my truck around. Reverse seems fine, I put that sucker in Drive and take off and it feels like your holding the brake pedal down, and taking off. I hit the pedal real hard and got a bunch of black smoke but it just would barely move. I think OK brake sticking? Well I drop it down into 2nd gear and it seems to take off fine...What freaking gives? What can I look for to figure out the problem? I'm hoping the transmission isn't going out on me! This happens the day after I let someone else drive my truck.

I think I will start off by jacking it up and double checking the brakes and emergency brake cable.

Today it was sort of cold out, I dont think that has any effect on my problem. Would a clogged transmission filter cause this problem?
