You do anything today John?? I pretty much took it easy..

56panelford 07-12-2017 08:52 PM

I started putting back the transmission today but have an overdrive ordered and found the cause of my leak...

Steve GG 07-12-2017 08:54 PM

Sounds like a productive day.. I have thought about an overdrive for the truck..

56panelford 07-12-2017 08:58 PM

This will knock my revs down by 1000 rpm at 60 mph

Steve GG 07-12-2017 09:25 PM

That will be good.. should get better gas mileage.. is this an add on after the transmission???

56panelford 07-12-2017 09:29 PM

No I'm changing out the transmission completely..

Steve GG 07-12-2017 09:33 PM

Transmissions are getting to be more complicated with 8 and 10 speed..

56panelford 07-12-2017 09:39 PM

This is just a simple 4 speed. I'd hate to think what one of the new ones would cost plus the headaches of all the electronics..

Steve GG 07-12-2017 09:41 PM

What was in there, a 3 speed??

56panelford 07-12-2017 09:48 PM

I have a C-6 3 speed and switching over to the AOD..

Steve GG 07-12-2017 09:49 PM

That sounds good..

56panelford 07-12-2017 09:54 PM

Will make the difference I need, I might still do some work to the rear differential by putting a limited slip carrier in it but will likely keep the 3.73 gearing. Will know more once the transmission is changed..

should think of calling it a night now Steve, catch you again tomorrow..:-wink

Steve GG 07-12-2017 10:04 PM

Night John....

bernette 07-13-2017 05:48 AM

morning boys! that should make a big difference john. hope the 2 transmission are the same lenght!

Well from what I see it does look pretty solid, not sure I could put a price on it but do know $3,000 is way more than I'd pay for it..Don't think I'd pay much more than $1,000

That truck a lot looks a lot better than I thought it would Rob, since he`s asking $3,000 I`d offer $2,500 and see how that goes. You can always come up but never down when buying. ;)

I'd start asking lower than that Morris, if that truck was going to be brought back to new looking it's going to take a lot of dollars...

thanks guys! i'm still trying to get my head into the game on this. i havent' done total restores like this before. & yeah i bet we'll be spending some serious money on it!
