351W clutch Z-bar

I am getting ready to drop a 351w in place of my 300. I have a np435. Now I need to know for anyone who has done this swap if I can reuse the z-bar from the 300 or do I need one from a 351m? Or are they the same size? I know I will need the pivot ball bracket that mounts to the bellhousing as well. I just need to know so I can get all my parts at one shot.

Z-bar is the same for all 73-79 trucks, as well as the frame mounted pivot.

Engine side bracket will need to be sourced from a 302.

Ok, that makes the z-bar easy enough. I thought the engine side bracket was the same for all as well?

I've never done the swap but it seems to me like the engine side bracket from a 300 would also work with a 351 since the bell housing bolt pattern is the same. Kind of like I reused the engine side bracket from my 351m with the 460- same bell housing.

There isn't an engine side 300 bracket per se', it's really just a bolt that screws into the side. Whereas the other engines have an actual bracket to hold the pivot ball.

That was the factory set-up, I guess someone could have done something funky with the truck in the last 30+ years.

Yeah, it is just screwed into the side of the block. Some of the older 351w blocks were set up the same way till the 70's...iirc I guess I will just get the bracket and find out for sure! lol

The 289 engines had a stud pivot exactly like the 300 I-6, however, the 302 truck engines used a bracket (7A572 prefix)
