How do I remove the HPOP on my 7.3?
I have the hoses off. The fuel bowl off. The bolts (3, I think) out. The HPOP is still in tight and I'm afraid of damaging it.
What do I do to get this thing out so I can fix it? |
Did you remove the reservoir and the bolt that hold the gear to the HPOP?
|
If you want some instructions on how to take it out, click this link (Terminator Engineering), go to the Tech link at the top, and there's picture instructions that will show you step by step how to get the HPOP out.

Got it out. Cleaned, installed new longer plug and torqued properly. Put it back in and I got tired. Plus I need to find my big torque wrench to sinch down the gear bolt. I read in another thread that you have to fill the HPOP with fresh oil. How or where do I do that?
|
There's a plug on the top right-hand side of the reservoir lid. Unbolt that to fill with oil. Only need to put in at most a quart, most likely 3/4 a quart. If you add more than that, it will just keep draining into the oil pan.

Yes, put back in about a half quart and the torque for the HPOP gear bolt is 95 ft/lb.
|
Does it have to be timed
|
It doesn't have to be timed
