thank you , today's project is to pull the windshield and the seats back out so i can put a roll on bed liner in an start the body work so i can paint it

mtufreerider 06-13-2010 08:51 PM

what kind of body work you doing?? what kind of bed liner are you using? are you going to do the under body? im about ready to start blasting my body and frame. love working on these trucks. your project is moving a lot faster than mine. gives me ideas that way hehe

akforceten 06-13-2010 10:35 PM

well got a few dents to pull and use my wire wheel to clean the floor boards then rattle can them and will lay down bed liner. so far it looks like herculiner due to cost 74 bucks at ace hardware . the under body was already under coated. Today i cut out the windshield so i could clean up the seal area an paint the top part of dash well thatsall for now

Nice build! My favorite trucks; Dentside Broncs. And what a perfect place you have to work on it. It doesn't get any better than that.
Ever thought about putting a 6BT Cummins in there? :D

akforceten 06-15-2010 10:13 PM

well I'm on a very tight budget and since the 351 m was rebuilt ,i got it with less than a 1000 miles on it . i am going to stick with whats in there an yes i have thought a cummins . unfortunately there is no money for that instead spending the money on d- 60 rear end an swapping gears and going knuckles out with 3/4 d 44 chevy stuff that way i have chevy rotors an calipers on all four corners

Very useful info, thanks

akforceten 06-16-2010 08:38 PM

I bought the brackets, bolts ,stainless steel flex brake lines from them . and got the calipers an rotors from napa an saved about $100 bucks in shipping . It's a very easy an inexpensive way to upgrade to rear disc brakes ,plus you can go to any auto parts store an get replacement parts.

mtufreerider 06-16-2010 09:58 PM

how can i find out if i have a d60? i know for a fact i have the 44 in front.

akforceten 06-17-2010 09:11 AM

my d -60 came from my 1972 f-250/350 high boy .the d-60 is a full floater ,and is 8 lug wheel pattern

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=36560

notice the the center section of the wheel .that is the hub an axle shaft sticking out

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=37826

an here is a shot of the diff cover some times they cast d60 into the housing.
broncos didn't come with d60 rear ends . i blew up the nine inch an had no money to fix it .i used the d60 laying in the back yard it was a lot cheaper than fixin the 9"
