Update on door slamming issue . . . door striker bushings
 

Hi everybody,

I posted a few weeks ago about how I was really struggling with having to slam my doors REALLY hard on my 1990 Ford F250, 7.3L, ext cab, 4x4.

I was not aware that there were supposed to be bushings on the striker bolts of my truck. I found some of the bushings at Auto Zone for $5 and have put them in.

However, even with these new bushings in, it seems the doors still need a little bit of adjustment.

What is the best way to adjust these doors so I am not double and triple-slamming them every time I get in the truck?

are the pins in the door hinge letting the door sag... this will cause shutting issues and u can buy a little kit with a new nail 2 bushings and a alittle clip that will fix it for like 6 dollars or sumthing like that

Open your door and lift up on it. Does it move up and down? If so, stroll down to NAPA, or wherever you like, and ask for some door pins.

So glad I read this thread, I need those. Do these parts just wear out or does letting the door fly open play a role as well.

ehh they wear out and letting the door fly open adds to it... it also isnt good on where the hinges mout to the door... my driverside door is starting to sag but w/e lol

I used to have an old Chevy Pickup that I was trying to restore and MAN did that thing have some major door sagging issues . . . I ended up selling it

Fortunately, this F250 doesn't seem to have too many bad rust problems.

I think it may be the catch mechanism that is inside the door that is making it so difficult to close . . . is that adjustable?

I think it'd adjustable but first, have you cleaned the latch mechanism well and lubed it with some good dry lube?

What is the best dry lube to use in this sort of application?

I like to use white lithium grease from an aerosol can. There really isn't anything better for a scenario where you really want the lube to stick and stay.

Good information. I have a door sag issue, the door visibly pops up when closed. I opened the door and lifted it and could see the pins float around.

$5 a side at Advance.

We replaced the pins bushing and strikers on my dads 86 K1500 with 350k miles on it, you would not believe that truck was that old when you easily pulled the doors shut with one finger!
