Front reciever hitch for 98 explorer

Does anyone know of a company that makes one for the 98's i see Curt manufacturing makes one for a 99 - 01. Whats the difference in the 98 and 99 I thought they were the same body styles. Thanks in advance for any info.

Front Receiver Hitch

I have one off my 2000 Mountaineer. I had it custom-made from a rear hitch. I ordered a front hitch from Draw-Tite
many years ago, but found out that their front hitch (which was listed to fit BOTH Explorer AND Mountaineer) did NOT
fit a Mountaineer - the hitch receiver did not come out in the right place.

I designed brackets for this one, and had a professional welding shop fabricate and weld them to it.

If you get close to White Lake (Waterford area), you're welcome top stop by and see if this one would work for you.

Right now, I'm working on fabbing a front hitch up for my Lincoln Aviator - which nobody offers. I'm modifying one
for a 2005 Explorer/Mountaineer to make it work.

Maybe I'm just old or something, but what do you use the front receiver for?

Front Receiver Hitch

I live on a small lake - I use the front hitch for pulling my boats in and out of the water, and moving them around on my property.

I also use it to manuever my 18' car-hauling trailer into a tight spot next to my garage. MUCH easier to do looking forward, instead of craning my neck looking back over my shoulder.

Thanks, I was just curious. I have front mounted tow bar brackets on mine and pull it behind my motorhome when traveling. Makes sense to have it when moving things around.

front receiver uses

A front receiver can also be used to carry bikes - especially handy if your rear receiver is occupied towing a trailer.

If you are into wheeling you can mount the winch either front /back where ever is most convenient to get you out of trouble.

I also mount my snow plow via a front receiver.
