I have installed a front 2 1/2 ton military axle on my truck, and after hooking everything up found out that it's a reverse rotation axle. Which means, the front drive shaft needs to turn in the opposite direction of the rear. Most vehicles(that I know of) have the rear and front turning in the same counter rotation.
Has anyone heard of a vehicle that had this reverse rotation front axle and transfer case?
Ford used reverse cut Dana front axles, when they flipped them upside down, they put a reverse cut ring & pinion in them, so they weren't reverse rotation. But they dont make reverse cut ring & pinions for the axle I have.

Is the axle a drop out carrier type or a top loader?

It's a drop out carrier type. I think I know were your going with this, rotating the carrier 180 degree's. The only problem with that is, my steering linkage would interfere with the carrier and pinion then. Unless there is a way to avoid that, I havent figured it out yet.

I've got the same axle in my mud truck. Instead of flipping the carrier, we flipped the whole front axle. This put the diff on the driver side(so I could use a ford case) and made the diff rotade the right way. I'll try to get some pics of a couple of our trucks front ends and post them so you can see how we made them work.

I was just looking in your Gallery of pictures, and saw your mud truck, you have the same axle as I do. That's a great idea, did you just keep the steering linkage above the carrier? And did that work ok without any interference? How did you make a spring pad by the carrier?
