Powertrain Warranty
Hey guys, how are you? Isn't there a 100,000 mile Powertrain warranty on our trucks? What exactly does that cover? Is there some place I can find out? I couldn't locate it on the Owner site.
Thanks in advance, Anthony |
depends
did you buy it new, or used? or did you buy it as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)? if new or used, then you have a 3yr/36,000 bumper to bumper...and nothing else on your 2004 truck that was the case from 2004 to about middle of 2006. trucks built after July 2006 have a 3yr/36,000 bumper to bumper, and a 5yr/60,000 powertrain if you bought your truck as CPO, then you have a longer powertrain. They just revised the term period on April 2, 2009...no idea what it was before that. btw, thanks Crazy for pointing this out to me Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles if you have a CPO, in some cases you have a better warranty than a new vehicle IMO...which is utter crap  |

Does it cover clutch kits failing or differential issues?
|
good one...I'm gonna say "Ask the Dealer" for that
they are part of the Drivetrain, so I want to say yes...but we all know how weird Ford is about some stuff |

Well, I'd have to ask a different dealer, because mine wants $1041 to replace the clutch kit they said was bad.

you might should escalate it to the Regional Parts guy. Explain the situation...especially how a clutch pack is part of the rear differential...which should be covered 100%
but you can pretty much be sure the Dealer has entered the issue into the OASIS network...if so, it means every Ford dealer is going to see what they've already diagnosed

isn't that what the internally lubricated parts thing is about?

Is there a visual way I can confirm that these bloodsuckers actually looking inside the differential housing?
|
just look at the bolts
they all should have obvious signs of wrench marks, and the area behind the bolts should have fresh circular marks from the removal and installation also, the fluid fill plug should be showing those same signs |
My 06 was an early build I bought used as a CPO and came with 6 year 75,000 mile powertrain warranty. I do believe that differentials are part of the powertrain warranty and as such the cluch packs should be covered. I can't say with certainty, but one would assume that would be covered under the all internal parts portion. It's possible that this dealer is balking at covering because they already have higher than normal warranty repairs or is under Ford scrutiny for shady practices. I'd definately see a different dealer. If that dealer takes care of you, that would be my dealer from that point on.

OK guys, I'll check it out and see another dealer. Thanks!
