C4 - What's the difference between 6 and 8 Cylinder Versions ?

Greetings from Germany!!!:-X12

Wonder what the differences are between C4s which were originally mounted behind a straight 6 vs. those which came behind a SB V8.

Got a used C4 which came out of a British Kit Cobra which was running a British 3,0 Ltr. V6 Ford. This is most certainly not where the tranny originally came from and therefore I wonder if there was a difference and how I could tell 'em apart (without having to disassemble it). I just heard that the ones used behind 6 bangers had just 4 clutch discs(???) and the ones from the 8 Cylinders had 5. Not sure about any details.

This C4 by the way is the one where the bellhousing shares the bolts with the pump. I just got me a bell housing that fits both, the tranny and my 289 SBF (with 6 bolts).

If there is a difference then will a normal rebuild kit have the parts to make it a V8 version or do I need extra parts ?

Any help is much appreciated !!! Thanx !!!
