Tire Pressure Sensor Reset
 

I recently installed a new set of tires and wheels on my 08 expedition, after about 100 miles I get a beep, then a message saying tire pressure monitor fault. If I push the reset the message goes away(until the engine is restarted) but the tire pressure light stays on. I took it back to the tire shop and we went around and checked all 4 sensors which are working correctly. I have found some old threads on resetting the computer in the vehicle, which includes some sort of magnet trick on the valve stem. Well it wouldn't work for me, Is there something different I need to be doing for the newer expy. Special tools maybe? :confused: Any help would be apreciated

Ive run into that problem before... i bought new rims and tires and i had to get 4 new sensors from the dealer. The tire tech at Discount had to get a device and the instructions to figure out how to program the new sensors to the truck after i returned because i had the same pressure fault.

Last week my dash lit up with "TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT". The tire pressure was good on all tires so I figured it was a system problem.

The dealer first tried to re-calibrate the wheels and found one that would not set. So, they pulled the tire off an found the sensor disconnected and the band broken. They blamed the tire installers that put the new tires on around 3k miles ago, but they covered it under warranty anyways so I was happy. I got the impression they get damaged easily during tire installations.

If you take it in, tell the tire shop to please be careful as they can get damaged. A tire shop broke one of mine and said it was like that when I came in. No way, it was in pieces and it would have set off the dash light. Dealer fixed it for free.

Thanks so much for the replies. Shes all fixed. I searched old threads and found that theres a procedure For resetting the computer. But the older models used a magnet to reset the sending unit in the tire, not so on the newer models. Resetting the sensor in the tire needs to be done electronically. So...went back to the tire shop, key on and off 3 times , step on brake pedal , key on and off 3 more times , then follow prompts on dash....Bingo.

Did you reset it via the procedure or did the tire shop reset it via the tool?
