Just finished up changing the ball joints on the drivers side. The passengers side are still good, but I assume i'll find a weekend soon that i wanna tinker and i'll change those too.

After pricing out a full Walker replacement exhaust system and seeing the poor quality of the parts, I went to a local exhaust shop that does mandrel bending. Their price for a complete system, new Y-pipe to the tail pipe, is $600. I know it is a good deal, I'm just not sure I want to spend anymore $$ on this truck. What to do, what to do.........

Wow.. I don't think $600 for single exhaust is a good deal at all... I was quoted $400-$500 for true dual exhaust for my highboy. That is from manifolds to tail pipes.

I only paid $265 for complete, true dual 14g aluminized 2.25" pipe for my 1991 crown vic...

That included the 2-3" x 14" Stainless tips, both glasspacks and a true H pipe....

From the manifolds to the back bumper...:-jammin

Wow thats cheap when the last owner of our 02 F250 4x4 crew cab V10 put the Banks power pack exhaust on it with a chrome tip it cost him around $1400 for everything and he installed it himself. I can't believe how cheap it is for these trucks for true duals.

We got the title registered and paid taxes on ours.

Now to start getting our 1987 F250 worked up the way I want.

2.25" is naturally cheaper than 2.5"

I am also assuming there would be more bends in my pickup than the crown vic. I would kill to get a quote of less than $300 for full dual exhaust though.

Hey Brandon I will qoute you $300 if you buy all the stuff. LOL

Well today I started my truck and drove it around the block.. it hasn't moved in a while again.

Well today our 84 Bronco 2 4x4 ran out of gas so my dad called us up and I went down to pick him up in our 02 F250 4x4. Man was Big white feeling torquey today. Luckly he ran out of gas on the backroad.

For the amount of labor involved fabricating a great flowing 'Y' pipe, then a properly sized cat, a good quality QUIET steel truck muffler and all of the 14g. mandrel bent tubing, plus a life time warranty on all of the parts, it's really not a bad deal. There's $475 worth of parts alone if I buy the Walker exhaust components, then I'd have to spent half a day of my life fighting with everything on the driveway.

It's just a lot of cash to fork over at this time.

For a comparison, I went to another shop today, they don't do mandrel bending, their equipment wrinkles the insides of the radius. Their 'Y' pipe wouldn't have a merge collector in it, just a welded lap joint. They used the same cat but a cheaper muffler. His estimate came in at $550. When I told him 'no thanks', he asked why and I told him about the other estimate.

He told me that he didn't think anyone would do a mandrel bent system for that cheap until I showed him the estimate. For $50 more, I'd go back to the first shop.

I made the mistake of having a guy bend the dual exh for my old truck then I find out later I could have gotten a mandrel bent kit for the same price......
