What material are you using to make those gaskets?

I simply went to the local parts house and bought a roll of Cork Gasket Maker....It'll flex a tad, but will allow everything to seal up...

I paid $3 for about 1/2 a roll...:-X06

And have PLENTY left over...:-X04

Dropped my rear tank, and pulled the pump...

Here's what I found...

As I pulled the pump out, the strainer caught, ripped and fell off....

Nice gasket Side, I almost did that with my rear gasket when I replaced it.

Uh oh, my secret is out!
I use this stuff all the time! I have several thicknesses and different types, paper, cork and high temp materials. It's nice not having to run to town to buy a gasket because you messed one up. In an emergency silicone and cardboard from say a case of soda will make a nice gasket. Used once when t-stat stuck shut in middle of nowhere once.

I finally got the driverside tail light to work again! It only took me 2 1/2 hours of digging though 3 ft of wiring from the light to where it goes forward to find a broken wire. Of course I tried the lightbulb first. Also while it was all dug out, replaced the 6 pole round trailer plug with a new one. Now to get all of the plates on the trucks and trailers.

they claim to be good steering boxes.we'll see i guess 200k from now hopefully.
the steering slop is gone.now to see if it remains nice and tight for a mile or two unlike the stock units.they've got the rep for doing so,so not too worried.:-X22

Sweet! You should keep us updated. I was planning on buying one of those in the near future.

I just put in a new hd 95k lowstall converter.... damm i should have done that a long time ago.

Drives like Ford should have made them stock :-)

I'll have to look into some of that gasket maker, always a fan of self-sufficiency.

Ran around town and to greensboro, dropped $110 on a turbo, wastegate, and blow off valve. Then spent another hundo on O2 sensors and fuel filter. Now trying to take a nap (2hrs sleep last night). Waiting on my A-Pillar pod, electric fan controller, and relays to get here from Summit so I can install that '95 Windstar fan.

Tackled my fuel filter change. 2 hours of cursing to realize the cheap 5/16 tool I bought wasn't actually 5/16. 2 minuted od drilling out the hole and 3 minutes under the truck and it was out. Also changed my PCV filter that was WAY past due. Might even be original.

That's what I Baught today to use. The 5/16" end was actually smaller than 1/4". Drilled it out a little and it worked like a charm.

I put in new bodymounts so now the cab is actually aligned with the bed. Before it looked like the frame flexed quite a bit parked in the parking lot :-)
