I battled the entire day with my shifter linkage, sadly there is some other issue going on... So I wasn't able to finish the job.

Yeah, I've been keeping track of mileage for the last year and a half, and the best I've gotten is 10.7. But it'll get a lot worse if I try :D
Actually, in the winter plowing and sanding I get between 6 and 7.
I kinda wish it had a manual tranny, but the auto is nice for plowing.

Sorry to hear that. When you figure it out, be sure to let everyone know what it was. :-drink

I've been fixing the radius arms and the crossmember they mount to. It was long overdue and stuff was extemely worn out, In fact the passenger side didn't even have a bushing left! Will be busy uploading pics of my handiwork to a yet to be named build thread.

Yeah mine looked like that too, found a piece of pipe at work that just happened to be the same size

Filled up tonight...$38 and 16.20 mpg on the tank....:D

Yesterday: Made my own rear brake hose/axle vent bolt and installed it. 7/16-20 x 1 1/4" in case anyone was wondering. :) Changed the oil over to Rotella 5W40 with a new Motorcraft filter. Cleaned the seats after that.

That's great if it's mixed driving! I filled mine up too, 13.9 mixed driving, mostly in town.

Through yesterday: Dropped ignition switch after stupid nylon keyswitch rack failed to allow continued operation. Dropped column to service rack. Decided to farm out the column work after reading an overview of what was involved and looking at my work schedule. Had a remote starter installed while the column was out of the truck. Reinstalled the repaired column, customized and cleaned up the remote starter wiring a bit, fixed the broken gear position indicator (has been broken for a while) and cleaned the resulting messes out of the front of the truck.

That's about 80-90% city/rural driving...

re: What have you done to your truck today?

Decided to sell it. Driving a 7600 pound crew cab long bed in the city I just moved to is more than a chore... I wish there was another way. :-arrgh

Sorry to hear about that breckman99. Sometimes you just have to yield to practicality. Maybe you could trade for a ranger?

FORDF250HDXLT 06-03-2012 11:07 AM

i did the ranger route many years ago.not only uncomfortable, but economy nothing to brag about either even with the 4 cly.id suggest a car.the ranger just maxes out when you try to use it anyway even for small items.better just driving a car and renting a real truck when needed if it's not often.just my experience with the rangers.so much better economy driving a car, more power, and much more comfortable.they seem like an ok idea, but they're really not lol.

^^^^ I agree with what he said. I have had a few small pickups, and none of them really did any better fuel mileage than my full size pickups. Plus they rode like crap. Right now I do have a 1996 explorer however, and I am really liking it. I just wish it had a little more room in the driver's seat, I'm a pretty big guy.

Cleaned my engine bay of all the Power Steering that was all over place from the hose that busted on friday
