Rehabbed my power paddle mirrors last night. Took a non-power mirror with good case and glass and swapped my power adjuster into it for the driver side. The driver side mirror I had was in bad shape. The glass in it has been cracked since I got the truck and the paddle itself was broken where it should pivot to fold. The passenger side just got pulled and the brace bracket tightened up so it wouldn't shake when I am driving. I also replaced both my blind spot mirrors. Made a huge difference. Being able to see while backing up makes all the difference in the world.

Got a full grey rubber floor to replace the dirty/stained carpet in my truck and a set of booster cables for $20 at pick n pull. The interior I got the rubber one from was I great shape and clean. Except it was missing the other couple pieces I wanted...

Finally, after a week long battle with the DMV, it got plates today, then driven 60 miles from the shop to my house. Only issues at this point are tire balance, alignment, and a sloppy steering box (which I already knew about). Next up: Redhead steering box.

I thought my steering box was sloppy but turns out its the slip shaft between the steering box and the ujoint under the dash

My Clone is finally getting the clear coat fixted...after 6 years my bodyshop guy got PPG to re spray my truck at no charge to me. There was some rust damage on the top of the cab i paid for that. So second restoration for $800

It still needs a few things..gonna get the LMC impact strip bumper later in the year..

One good thing Maryland has is Historic plates. Anything over 20 years old you can get plates with no inspection the same day you buy it along with no smog test. My old truck is only $51 a year for tags. I went over my truck really well when I bought it but unfortunatly a lot of people don't.

I'm having some serious issues with this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...oken-help.html

Oh, I'm not worried about smog or inspection, it'll pass all of that just fine. My issue was that the last two owners of the truck registered it, then either failed inspection, or didn't get it inspected, which resulted in cancellation of their registrations. Because of this, I had to buy a temporary plate, take the truck to an inspection station, have them do an "alternate safety inspection", and then go back to the registry with the alternate inspection report, so that I could get regular plates.

I bought it as a project vehicle, knowing it'd need work, which has now been done.

Adjusted my hood so it closes properly, and fixed vacuum lines for the EGR. Hopefully that'll help my mileage and make my intermittent CEL go away...

@ Bob, I lived in RI for 10 years, Had to go to the main registry once. The Apex building is a mess. I took a number, went out to lunch and a movie, came back and still had to wait 1 & 1/2 hours. Crookedest little state in the union.

Plain Jane 05-27-2012 07:44 PM

did some more detailing in the engine compartment today. about 4 hours worth. looking much better.
