BUMP!
Hey, I got a new front fender and front bumper today... slowly getting parts together for another little project on my truck...got more on the way. Just fixin a little RUST, nothing wrecked.

SaikotikGunman 07-15-2009 10:30 PM

Made it haul hay around the farm... and broke another inside door handle... Makes two trucks I have screwdrivers in to open the doors.

What did I do, It's always something.

I removed the nut(s) that hold the radius arm to the frame bracket. Had to use my shilly little naphtha gas plumbers torch. Not fun! :-hair The passenger side bushing was mostly gone. It was so bad that when you hit the brakes you could hear it smacking around. I found the R.A bolt holes had enlarged do to rust. Go figure. So next, after I post this I'm going shopping for the best deal I can fined on :-X15 on R.A brackets.

Removed the bed liner (yea!) to install a fifth wheel hitch. Surprised at the amount of pine needles and pine cones that had got under the liner. Installed diamond plate covers on the bed rails.
Coming attractions -Brakes and Rotors

Yes, they are 1st Gen springs. I had the fronts on there too but it wasn't low enough so I put on Belltech 2" drop springs. The leafs still have the factory traction bar but thanks anyway. I also have a 3.55 LS rear for it. Here is a pic of what im working on.

Thanks. It has come along way. The wheels are Boss 335s 20x8.5 with Nitto NT555 245/40R-20. Ill try to make a gallery. Heres a new pic. Installed 1.5" spacers in the back to make the wheels even with the wheelwells.

Thats a great looking truck. You should get the grille from carriage works I think its called or make your own like some on FTE have done. The billet grille needs the surround to match the headlight buckets. There is a picture of a white "L" on here that has it. Its in this thread.

Pulled the driveshaft to replace U-joints and drained the T-case.

Thanks for all the compliments. I was planning on doing that or just getting a stock chrome grill. My truck had all argent parts when I got it. The grill does look alot better like that. Its $170 just for that insert though.

Today my truck passed safety and emissions and I got it registered! So far I've replaced the water pump, power steering pump, thermostat, timing set, timing chain cover and front tank fuel pump.

Future fixes, passenger headlight housing, drivers side seat, make a folding ramp tail gate, AC blower housing and squirrel cage. I'll be going to the local salvage yard to pick up some parts.

It's been a difficult but fun project.
