I called her some dirty names cause i realized now i have to pull the heads off and replace a valve to get rid of a bit of a miss it has. but at least now i know what i gotta do and where my next weekend will be spent, which isnt a bad place at all in my garage with my black beauty. Done everything else i could think of to eleiminate the miss, now its just another excuss to buy more tools hahaha.

Today I installed factory front and rear sway bars and I trimmed the front bump stops because it was botttoming out with the 2" drop springs on top of 3" drop beams. Man what a difference with the sway bars. With that the 5 / 8 drop and the Nitto tires this thing handles amazing.

Sway bars make a big difference. I installed them on my truck several years ago. I really think it should have come with them.

I got a set of oem ones from the salvage yard. The rear went on perfectly, but the front would not fit right. So, I bought an aftermarket front one from Hellwig.

Did you get new poly bushings to go with them? That will help too.

No I used the stock bushings that were om them. They required a little modification that came with the Belltech lowering kit. I will probably upgrade the bushings later when I install the Lightning leaf springs I picked up for it.

Thats cool your putting Lightning leafs on it. I would guess they must be 1st Gen springs right? Are you putting Lightning coils up front too?

If they don't have the traction bars on them, I have a pair of the Lightning traction bars. I was going to put them on my F150, but they won't work with the stock springs. They only fit right with Lightning springs. If you interested let me know.

New air filter(shoulda seen the old one!), new rearmost U-joint on the '95... Spark plugs are next, but, damn, I just have a bad feeling I'm going to break one(or more)... 64k miles and it looks(and runs) like they could be original.

Just changed out the plugs on my neglected '78...let it run to temp. then take them out.

Was out spending time with her, (Raven):-X14 and had this idea. I have a chance to get my hood re-done, and was wondering if this would work...

All responses will be considered. (Sort-of)

Jonas1022 07-07-2009 06:45 AM

The question is, why wouldn't you do it? Great Idea! imo.

Yes, they are 1st Gen springs. I had the fronts on there too but it wasn't low enough so I put on Belltech 2" drop springs. The leafs still have the factory traction bar but thanks anyway. I also have a 3.55 LS rear for it. Here is a pic of what im working on.

........Maybe you could find a local artisan who would be willing to do the work for trade. You could let him post is name and logo on the truck in exchange for the artwork. Just tell him his sig can go anywhere but on the hood. Thats sacred space. After he's done have it shot in clear, and you'll be Good To Go!
