Yeah all but 2 of the old bolts were seized and did no want to come out.

An impact gun would probably shake them loose. Never had any issue with water pump bolts using an impact.

an impact would have just snaped them off inside the case like one already is.... dang corrosion

Sounds like rust is a HUGE issue where you are... By the look of your fenders too... Guess I've got it a bit easier in northern VA.

Last Friday, I splurged on a set of rear tail light bulbs, (LED) and matched the specs for the old to the new. Same #'s. LED light bulbs refused to go into the sockets... Matched the bases, and the LED lamp base was wider/thicker...
:(
What am I missing, even if numbers match? I am open to all suggestions to recoup those $.

Air Cleaner Box

Hello and good afternoon.

Well, I finally installed a complete Air Cleaner Box from a 4.9L donor to my 87 5.0L and also installed new air cleaner filters. Now I just have to check my PCV Valve and I will be "good to go." The snorkel on the 4.9L is so much bigger so I will have more fresh air entering the Throttle Body. I do not expect any performance results other than my temperature gauge may read a bit cooler longer than with my previous air cleaner as it had a heat diverter from the exhaust manifold running to the bottom of my old snorkel into the heat diverter.

I took pictures of my old system, assembled, on a Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE so I have to figure out how to insert them in a post.

There has been a lot of questions regarding my old system as it has 2 vacuum hoses located on the top of the air box. One to the heat diverter and one to the Plenum (tree) on top of the engine.

Take care

Boon

P.S. My next modification is installing some Pacesetter "shorty" headers, 2.5" collectors, running to a y-pipe, high-flow cat to a short high-flow glass pack to a stainless steel tip just under the rear bumper; all 2.5".

You should be able to upload your pictures into an album on FTE from you phones web browser. From there you can copy/paste the BB code into posts. I do this with my smartphone regularly.

Be Careful! If you have a E4OD trans, those LEDs will screw with you big time!

No he has a 5 spd manual

Well,
I've learned on here that my pot flasher may/will not work with LED's due to the 'no-load-rate...spent 2.5 hrs trying to find comparable socket that might work...
Then, he said auto trannys don't play well with LEDs. Am i reachin for the impossible in wanting different light systems for my ride? This site is the ultimate in info sharing and cool pics of rides.
This issue rates right up there with my speedo not workin...

I will always keep up the search, and look for updates.
Givin it a rest for now.

I finally got to the local exhaust master and had my exhaust installed. Sounds REAL good. So the complete system is walker down pipe with welded opening cleaned up, at 2.5 inches. Then to a flowmaster universal cat and finally to a flowemaster 40. It sounds great and is not loud at all. The ride from the shop (at 35miles) was real pleasant. No drone or loud exhaust. Awesome!! I followed the advice from this forum and as usual its spot on!! Thanks GUYS!!

Replaced brake pads on front and put on new front tires and got rid of the death rattle.
