PO125 code

I was reading some of the other posts about this code and have some questions. I periodically get this code and clear it. I t may stay gone for a while and it may not. I think I am going to change the TSTAT out and start at this point. I would like to Know which TSTAT to use. Do I need to use the 180 or 195 I need help? I have a 2000 4x4 with a 4.6L in it. I have not noticed the temp guage not working maybe it has been working a little slow. Will this repair my problem.Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bad thermostat. Do not use a fail safe t-stat and be sure it is a 195*

Agreed. Your old thermostat is getting slow to respond.

Stick with the stock unit.

So would this also apply to me? I went yesterday to get a Smog Check on my 2000 Lincoln Town Car which has a Ford 4.6L and failed with code PO125. Low ECT for Closed Loop Fuel Ctrl. I just had a new intake manifold and thermostat put in last year!

Sounds like it. The engine is not reaching the proper operating temp.
Always use a 195 Thermostat.

Great...thanx for the advise....I'll replace it today. Hopefully that will take care of my problem. I'm assuming if it continues next thing to look at is my temperature sensor right?

Never had one come back to find out.
