Any performance parts for the 4.2L?

Are there any performance parts for the 4.2? Besides the usual K&N and exhaust which is easy enough to find. Any headers out there?

Borla and Dynomax each make a cat-back exhaust system, ASP Racing makes underdrive pulleys, and Wynjammer makes superchargers. Also, check out www.summitracing.com

Could you tell me more about the Wynjammer SC.
Where can I contact them. I heard that no one made a SC for this Engine.

Any performance parts for the 4.2L?

Hi, I recently bought a 2000 F150 with 14000 on it. I find the power to be plentiful. I just got rid of a 1994 Ranger with 98 HP.
I found a site that will have just about everything you will need to gain up to 80 HP more out of you 4.2L.

I plan on boosting my HP up a little once my warrentee is up.

The 3.8L and the 4.2L are both 90 degree V blocks with the same deck height and bore spacing. This means that even though the heads and intake manifolds are different they will interchange. The following info is a copy from a previous post I responded to that might be of some interest.

Don't know if anyone is still watching this string but there is something all 4.2L V6 owners should now. The 4.2L is a bored and stroked brother to the 3.8L found in Windstars, Mustangs and the old Thunderbird Supercoupe. I have researched this because I was trying to make a 4.2L supercharged engine out of 3.8L parts and stick it in a Mustang.

This project never evolved for me but I discovered that the cam, upper intake, supercharger and heads from a 3.8L Supercoupe engine will fit on a 4.2L engine. Most of these parts are still available over the dealer's parts counter but I would find a total Supercoupe T-Bird if possible. I never researched this swap for a F-150 but the first real issues you will come across is getting the FEAD system to operate correctly. The FEAD system on the 4.2L must extend about 7 inches forward of the engine block and the 3.8L Supercoupe's FEAD is very tight and close to the block so this will be an issues to over come. FEAD = Front End Accessory Drive

I added a gibson super truck exhaust and poweraide throttle body extension. The are both simple to install mine took me a hour at the most. Im looking to install a diablo chip next, it will install in the cpu without the tape that superchip needs to hold it in. Thats if I can find my oil leak.

Hi Thanks for the info. On that throttle body you mentioned for the 4.2 F-150. How much power did you notice? I installed a Gibson muffler system and a chip. Is the throttle body worth the money? Supercharger would be nice but not if I have to research a lot.

Are these still the reccomended perf options now?

the ASP pulleys - do they really help at all?
and the cat-backs - any good gains?

The throttle body to me is not worth the money. The throttle body is a couple hundred dollars but you can polish and port your throttle body to achieve the same amount of power as a bigger throttle body. $0.02
