you think thats bad?
i just did an oil change today on an 04 f-150 with the 5.4......when i took the filler cap off, a couple drops of water came off the inside of the cap. there was this yellow gunk caked on the inside of the filler cap and all in the filler tube. it was pretty disgusting....i wiped it clean but still...holy crap, to have that much is a bit excessive.....dont know how the guy drives though...oil was black though

Thay's what mine was like. There was at least a tablespoon+ of goop on the underside of the filler cap. It is a 97 F-150 with the 4.6. And I drive my truck easy. Same as the truck you were working on, oil was fine though. And it has synthetic oil.

I don't have the goop on the filler cap, but I checked the pcv valve and it was broke. I believe the spring was broke. Thanks for this thread. I might not have checked it until spring.
