2001 7.3 PSD: Do I need to modify truck or can I just pump in the biodiesel?

Hi All,
I read a number of posts on the forum but some get too technical too quiclkly.
If I want to run biodiesel in my 01 Excusion, can I just go and fill up and bring a few extra fuel filters along?
Can I try a half tank mixed into whatever #2 is already in my tank, and switch back and forth depending on what is available, bio or dino, when it's time to fill up?
Do I need to convert the truck before using biodiesel or do I need to make any kind of commitment to run it?
or can I just go back and forth?

THanks
Evan

The things you need to consider are....

If the outside temp Below 40* F you want to run a blend like B75
You truck will run fine on B99 if it's over 40* f.

Yes carry an extra fuel filter.
Change your fuel filter after about a week if you run anything over B20
B20 and less should not cause the deposits in your fuel system to release.

Here is a quote form a local oil company about biodiesel.

"Once somebody gets into biodiesel, it's like they discovered Jesus Christ for the first time," said Mark Fitz of StarOil Co. in Portland. "They can't stop talking about it."

Sorry if it's been covered, but I'm in the same boat as Dregsz....
I'm reading post after post on this, I do have one question.

How often will you have to changer fuel filters on Bio?

Usually, after changing filters once or twice, the "scum" from dinodiesel has been removed from the system. Once the system is clean you can return to normal change intervals. If you are using B-2 or B-5 you should not notice any filter plugging. FABMANDELUX:-X25 :-fire
