Thermostat problem on 2.3

Hey guys, I have a problem with my thermostat. I replaced it because the car runs very cool (about 130 degrees) on the freeway. I figured it didn't have one, but it did, and after it was replaed, it only ran marginally warmer than with the old one. Is there a bypass that I'm overlooking, or could the thermostat be in backwards? When I put it back together, the part of the thermostat with the spring on it was facing the engine block, which is the same way the other one was installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you got it in the right way. What year is the vehicle and is it EFI? What temp thermostat did you put in? EFI requires a 195º t-stat to function properly.

T-stats have been known to be bad right of the box. Might be that a piece of crud got in it and is holding it open as well.

BTW, I gave you your own thread on the subject. Better than tagging onto an old thread where your question might not get noticed. :-wink
