Theoretically stupid question of the day:
NOTE: There are no stupid questions! (Except the questions we fail to ask)
Q: What is a "POM"? |
I believe it is an affectinate name the aussies use for us Brits!!!
|
Yes it is :)
They are generally referred to as "The Poms" |
Where does the term come from? Is it an acronym?
I know that "Poms Frites" in German is a french fried potato.... Does this mean English people are considered to be POTATOES???? :-X24 |
It means "Red Neck"
I have never met an English POM. Lots of "Bolers " & "Ballfree's" though. |

The REAL answer is that POM's stands for Prisoner Of Her Majesty........Very ironic since the Brits sent to Oz were sent there as Prisoners originally. so in reality the white/european australians of British origin are the TRUE POMS.
