Theoretically stupid question of the day:

NOTE: There are no stupid questions! (Except the questions we fail to ask)

Q: What is a "POM"?

Where does the term come from? Is it an acronym?

I know that "Poms Frites" in German is a french fried potato....

Does this mean English people are considered to be POTATOES????

It means "Red Neck"

I have never met an English POM.

Lots of "Bolers " & "Ballfree's" though.

Am I the only person that finds this slightly ironic?

Australians coming up with a nick name for English people to call them rednecks...

The REAL answer is that POM's stands for Prisoner Of Her Majesty........Very ironic since the Brits sent to Oz were sent there as Prisoners originally. so in reality the white/european australians of British origin are the TRUE POMS.

UKS

I didn't know that. Cool, thanks - that makes far more sense.

So can I undo my chains now?
